~Never a Dull Moment
I’ve been trying to capture a few pictures to send. I am doing ok, staying busy with work, Praise God, and our usual activities-walks and play dates with the neighboring Vizla.
Winchester is heading to his 11th birthday in April. Opus is seven (I believe) and Stanley, four.

The older two like the blankets over them now that it’s “winter” in south Texas. Stanley totally photobombed the picture-I laughed so hard as he plopped right in the middle.
Opus is super-nosey; I’ve been getting ready for remodel and he’s into everything. Winchester is my rock. He’s the most intuitive and protective.
My kids will both be here for Christmas -first time in five years, so I have many blessings to count.
I think of y’all every day. Stay warm and healthy 💙
Love, Melinda

Bella Rae

You might remember seeing Bella Rae and Grace on a recent Blog. This update is a bit late. We had several updates come all at once. Please do continue to send the updates. We will soon be out of them –haha.
At Home
Just a little update on Bella Rae. After a week home, she has really settled in. Our flight went great, she slept on my lap most of the way. I started with the carrier on my lap and my hand inside the bag and she sort of worked her way out and onto my lap where she slept happily the rest of the way. Since she’s been home she has slept through the night very well in her crate, we’ll go out to potty for the last time around 10 or 11 and then she sleeps until 4:30/5ish.
She isn’t too fond of being in the crate during the day unless someone is sitting by her but we are working on that. Bella is quite the cuddle bug when she’s not playing she loves to run and jump into your lap and snuggle there, she also loves cuddling in bed (of course) before she goes into the crate at night.
Her and Bacchus have become great friends. They play quite a bit (always supervised since he doesn’t really know how big he is) and when she cries in the crate he’ll go into the room and check on her, which usually quiets her right down. Bella is definitely an alpha, she climbs all over Bacchus and puts him in his place whenever she can. She’s also very brave and loves exploring outside. Taun is taking a bit longer to warm up to her but we’re making progress…
Here are a few pictures of her from the week. She is a great addition to the family, thank you both for all you do!
All our best,
Grace, Laura, and Jon

~and their Weims–Part One
Hello OwyheeStar family!!
We’ve been having an eventful spring…well not so much for Max. He’s just chills out.
Lucy got spayed. She had some stitches come loose because she can’t not run, but all is well now.
She still loves to snuggle. Especially in Dad’s chair!
We added to our furry and feathered friends with some baby chickens. Lucy is sooooo curious, but I think it’s because she sees them as a snack. She’s become a bit of a hunter (see below)
So far, she jumps up and grabs birds out of the air, comes home with marmots, finds rabbits on hikes and most recently, a porcupine!!! 😞 (see below) that little lesson cost $300 at the pet emergency! Silly Lucy!

“Ouch” porcupines are not fair game Miss Lucy. It is just horrid to see you suffer this indignity. Please be careful in the future. (OMG)
Dear Friends — we cannot thank you enough. The years we have shared, the stories, and your continued loyalty we do not take lightly. What else can we say?
March Madness of a Special Kind
Facebook posts were plentiful describing the muddy-paw madness. Most of you who were in the thick of the situation live in the country, and have more than one set of paws. Terra took her crew to the dog-park where they played their heart out, and thoroughly enjoyed the mud.
Shotgun; Glad to see you, but in the back Dad!

Hank is my Name
This is Hank, my new Weimaraner puppy!
Hank spent his first 9 weeks in Ontario, Oregon with his family but he’s getting used to life in the North End (Boise, Idaho).
He has already made some friends, and the cat is intrigued.

Play-Date with Charlie Mae and Murphy
One of my new friends (Will) reported : “Charlie Mae and Murphy had a friend over yesterday for awhile to play!! Hank is a new best friend to our two :)” Here are some photos of their play-date.
Hank says, “I think I am going to be needing my own Facebook Page sooner, rather than later.”
Charlie Mae, Murphy, and Mace….
And then there were 3…..
3??!!??! Are we crazy? Yes we are, crazy about Weimaraner! As a friend pointed out, we just need a Blue Longhair to complete our “Set” now!!!
We just took the newest family member for his 12 week appt. Murphy is 21 Lbs! (he was 12.4 Lbs at 9 weeks) I have a feeling we are going to have a 65-75 Lb Weim on our hands.
We picked up Murphy from our friends at Owyheestar at his 8 week b-day and he’s been happily integrating into our family ever since.
He certainly has his own personality compared to the other two.. He’s for sure less “bitey” than Charlie Mae was at this same age (we got Mace at an older age so we can’t compare with him). We couldn’t hardly have Charlie with us in bed at this age without some toy for her to chew on. Murphy likes to play, but not really into chewing on us YEA!! Potty Training still is ongoing, we’ve had a few accidents, but we are working on this together. He’s started to learn to ring the bell on the door to go outside, but so far it’s just been to get a drink on his own (which is a start as this was the same behavior Charlie had). The other bell rings are provoked by us taking him out on a regular interval to have a potty break. Crate Training is ongoing, I think he is fine with it overall, but he would REALLY REALLY just rather be in bed with Mom and Dad, especially in the AM when it’s a little chilly in the house. Now that he’s bigger, he’s joined the his “Big Sister and Big Brother” in the Dog house in the garage when we are gone during the day. He seems to be much happier in here with his friends than alone in his bedtime crate.
They all happily chill out in there together for several hours at a time. We had a Fair day this last week where they were primarily in the Dog House for 12 hours (with friends giving them breaks ever 4 hours). When we got home, they didn’t seem to have suffered any ill effects at all J Charlie Mae (~11 months old) has graduated from her crate at night, she is fully potty trained and as of recently (last couple months) refrained from bringing shoes and such outside when un-attended. She is still on probation though.. Mace LOVES his crate and RUNS into it every night…
So until he shows some signs of wanting to move out, we are happy to just let him be in his happy place. Since school started for my Daughter, Mace is LESS than happy to have to be getting up extra early. For months now, when we told Charlie Mae to go to bed, she would run inside and jump on our bed.. we’d assist her to her own crate and she would be ok with it, but would just prefer to be in with Mom and Dad. Mace (~11 months old) is just our big goofy/happy boy. He wants nothing more than to be by our side and live life to its fullest. Both Charlie and Mace have taken to Murphy as a part of the family. It seems to me that Charlie Mae is especially enjoying this new member as the two of them seem to play quite frequently. Mace will play with Murphy, but he’s just a little more rough so I think Murphy seeks out Charlie.
