Costume Or Not

~Halloween is Coming

St. Denis's Bella Halloween 2016

What’s your take on the costume thing? Do you insist they put on the garb, trot around, and act silly? Two of the three is a given with this breed, don’t you agree? Do they trick or treat with you?

Are they spooked by the costume attired visitors–if you have them coming to your door. I seriously don’t know what people do in this day and age. There are community events. Some churches host the Trunk or Treat thing–filling the trunk of the cars with goodies to pass out. Some folks turn off the lights, lock the door, and pretend to be gone.

Typically, we only get Trick or Treat callers that we know–last year it was our two Great Granddaughters. We have neighbor kids living less than a mile from here. I suppose it is always a possibility that they might show up. We will be prepared. Maybe Stackhouse needs to dress for the evening. I will have to think about that. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts. Feel free to share photos from previous years. This one of Bella is from 2016. I still love it. I bet you do too!

Remember, how I told you we waited for 11 years. Our daughter, Jazlyn CRIED so hard.
We are all in love. We are over the moon! Our daughter still gets teary-eyed holding her. She is so in love and happy.

And Other News

Your story touched our hearts–we are glad this little girl could join your family. We can only imagine the journey on which you embark. The stories, the confidences, the adventures you share are yours alone. Well, let’s be honest. People are more apt to tell a Weimlover they think our obsession is silly. (Haha)
Clearly–you are infected already and speaking of a second one. We look forward to your updates –the stories and the photos. We look forward to one day down the road a bit helping you with another Weimaraner. Then, you can join the Two-Weimaraner family group. There are a lot of folks that have two or more. I am not saying that it is for everyone, but alas it is a bit like potato chips. (OMG)
Oh, thanks for loving Evangeline’s artwork. Silly me–I didn’t get it when she said she loved drawing on my puppy papers the most. We are glad you liked your information packet; and that you are a part of the OwyheeStar community. Thanks in advance for your loyalty–it means the world to us.

Charlie Blue

Change Happens

     ~ Here is Our Update

IMG_8500I am way overdue for a Charlie Blue update! Our lives have changed quite a bit in the last year. We got an English Bulldog puppy and moved from Boise to Seattle.

Charlie despised Bosa when we first brought him home. Bosa is almost a year old now. Charlie tolerates him, but he’s still not her favorite.

She prefers to snuggle with our kiddos and our cat, Ish. Charlie has made new friends in Seattle and she loves the ocean. I will never forget the moment when she first encountered waves. But some things never change.

She still loves retrieving, swimming, racing in snow, finding birds (even when we aren’t hunting), going on fishing and camping trips, running free, stealing food, ripping up pillows, and hogging the bed.

I create a photo collage of Charlie for her birthday every year. I can’t believe she’s five! We love her more every day. She truly is the best family dog.IMG_8487IMG_1451

Charlie Blue has an interesting life. We do so appreciate everything you have done with and for her. Thank you, for remembering us. It means the world.

Raider Wants You to Wake Up!

When grandma babysits, and Raider loves to snuggle. All goes well until she wants her baby to wake up—at least Raider wants to show her some intense pressing love.

Don’t Eat the Tulips

Not A Salad!

18119379_10154241739531612_8739486530847479049_nWe all know all too well our beloved Weims can eat almost anything. These photos tell a story. Can we all see the wheels turning? Why would I want my chew stick when there are the beautiful tulips waiting to be picked? 17990739_10154241739566612_1832225702496365279_n

Not every lovely plant is safe for the Weimaraner. Tulips are #6 on the list and follow the daffodil–click here for Web MD’s List. Their list is short if you search you find the number of dangerous plants to your dog is lengthy.

How We Spent Easter

Day of Rest

17992317_1301969653186338_5810763892627142803_nWe have to get our beauty rest. We share our bed with our humans. It is vitally important that we have a good bed and plenty of room to stretch out.

Later (Emma and Alice)

A little sunshine and more comfort. Sometimes it is musical chairs we play.

Clearly, the weather is beautiful in this photo too! Cheryl reports these two girls are the best of friends and sisters. What more could we ask?

Looking Good

Happy Easter!

The photos were taken of Greta (OwyheeStar’s No Regrets) the week of Easter Sunday 2012. The lovely Gray Ghost wearing the bow tie is an OwyheeStar. His name is Miles (Livee X Blue).

Weimar Games

Snowball!

16903455_1181464675256469_144163915201259349_oGracie made this game up as is the way with Weims. She buries the ball under the snow and then surprises herself when she digs it out – every time! She lets me throw the ball every so often so I don’t get bored. Out in the snow with Gracie and our best to you.

Didi, Part One

At 6 Years

message_1437935452891Hi, this is Blake, my wife and I got our Didi from you and Cliff in early 2011. I apologize for not writing in ages, but we wanted to drop a line to let you know that Didi is great, in very good health and is still energetic as ever, even as a 6 year old girl now. Lily and I don’t have any children so Didi is our baby and we can’t imagine life without her. She loves any type of activity we do, but definitely swimming and hiking are her favourites and we can’t keep her out of the water. I’ve put together a bunch of photos of Didi around Vancouver and the surrounding mountains and ocean.

Mom Loves Didi

My mother has also written a little piece about how much she loves your Weims, and how much Didi means to her and my sister, so I will send that along as a separate email. She has been urging me to write and send pictures because she reads your blog on a regular basis.
I hope you and Cliff are well and I hope you enjoy the pictures of our little girl.
~Many thanks, Blake and All

Didi’s grandma has written a lengthy report. We love it! We have more photos too! So, expect Didi’s continuing update to follow in the days ahead.

Neighbors and Playmates

New Neighbors

~ new playmate for our Izzy

img_0616

Izzy has a new friend Hank. Our new neighbors have brought him over to play with Izzy.

I have included a poem written by Hanks 11-year-old co-owner, Avery. She has granted me permission to share it with you–and you can put it on the blog if you choose.

QUICK SILVER

~an original continuation poem by Avery.

Silver dog with eyes of blue

I cannot start to describe

You, but for starters that I can’t start

Your eyes, they seem alive!

Yes, little sapphires, or copper

Or gold, your eyes have plenty to behold

In the dark your eyes shine bright

Though it seems like daytime, it is night

And your fur, this poem’s name,

Hides you when you’re hunting game

BUT GLEAMS when in open, like the moon

And across your body; is silkily strewn.

We appreciate you asking to share this poem. Thank you for as well for the photos of the two romping and playing. Of course, we love that Izzy has a new Gray Ghost neighbor playmate. She looks as spry as ever. What a girl!?! We are slightly biased.
