Mando
~ Daddy’s Boy

Mando is 8 months old as of Nov 3rd, and is doing great! We got him in for his neuter 2 weeks ago and all went great with that. I just love the medical shirts that have now. Jill was able to find Ace’s shirt and save us a few $$ by using it for Mando. For the last round of shots we did do the Titer test and he showed too low so we did get the last round of shots and then another Titer and things came back acceptable.

Mando is just about 50 lbs. so far and finally able to hold his own with his big brother Ace (2yr old blue longhair OwyheeStar Weim). The two blue boys (I call them the BBC – Blue Boy Club) play ALL the time it seems. Mando is the brother that actually wants to play with Ace (unlike his older siblings were when Ace joined the family). Ace and Mando’s very favorite game is playing keep-away with the ball. It might be mostly Mando’s favorite game, but Ace doesn’t seem to mind!
Mando is a daddy’s boy and when it’s time to relax for the night, more often than not he finds me and plops down half on the couch and half on me! I love this beyond words, our time in quarantine together really cemented our bond! Every night when it’s bedtime, I call him and in he jumps into bed and stays there through the night. Having said that, he loves everyone, he’s taking to whining when we get home and take him out of his crate. He does so in a way that’s unlike any of our other Weim’s! It’s hilarious, I should try to get a video of it to share. He probably makes the most noise for Elle (my 15 year old daughter), as she seems to get him the most spun up greeting him after getting home.
Hope you like the photos– thanks again for all that you do for us Weimlovers!!!

We are so happy to hear that Mando is doing well–a perfect fit for your family. The photos are fabulous.
As you might know, we have been discussing vaccine reactions on the blog earlier this week. On Monday we talked in general about vaccine for the Weimaraner puppy, then on Tuesday we shared Luna’s story ‘Cautionary Tale‘ as shared by Luna’s Mom Kris. After those two days of talking vaccine and vaccine reactions, we have posted updates. This Mando Update is the perfect end to this week’s focus. We will be talking about Vaccine Titer Testing next week–so, Mando’s experience is the perfect intro to further discussion. Thank you for all you do for your OwyheeStar Fur Family Members–we truly appreciate your family
Henry
-It Has Been a Year

Henry turned one in December– we got him a year ago in Feb. He’s huge. And loving, very clever and hilarious. He’s such a wonderful pup!
We met some friends who also have one blue and one grey weim! How funny!! Haha And of course, here he is looking beautiful and ready for Christmas. One more fun fact about Henry!! He is SOOOOOO vocal! He sings and talks when he wants things! Is he part husky! Haha
Then there are other laughable as well as adorable moments–we captured some of those here.

We cannot thank you enough for this fabulous update on Henry. He looks to be thriving, and what we notice the most is he is integral to all things family. From all appearances, the resident Gray boy accepted the new OwyheeStar Blue Boy. What a cute pair they make.

Thought you might like a 12week (almost 13) update on our out Henry!
He’s amazing. He loves to play fetch and so good at the return. He is learning and listening so well. Still mastering the potty training, but great as long as we are paying attention! He’s such a funny pup and so smart! He is able to play hide and seek with toys and people. He’s catching on so we’ll to words we use. He is obedient to sit, stay, lay down, come and ‘outside’ (our word for potty!) He has even mastered wiping his feet when he comes back in, on the rug…. For a treat of course! He has grown SO much and going to need a bigger bed soon!
Sorry some of the pics are blurry! He’s not still for long! ~Jill and Clint

Elle and her Preparation
~For the new puppy (Ace!)

For the past couple of years, we have been talking as a family about getting a 3rd Owyheestar puppy for our family (primarily for Elle our Daughter). The thought of a 3rd dog is a little daunting, but early this last summer, Elle started to try and sell this hard to Jill and I. Her final proposal went something like this… “So, I’m likely going to college in about 5 years, so if we are thinking of getting me my own dog, if we wait too long, I won’t have as much time with him. Also, I will pay for as much of him as I can working small jobs and babysitting over this summer.”
With that. we were sold and we told her the target amount we wanted her to provide (20%) and she agreed. We sent our deposit with our puppy desires to our friends at Owyheestar and got onto the waiting list!

Note the blue hand made blanket Elle and Jill made for Ace! Also Elle had me order a 3 pack of “Lady Lambchop” toys for Ace (This is a house favorite toy for all of our Weimarainers over the past years).
On Dec 9th, 2018 we saw that Winnie had delivered and we saw that there were a couple pups that met our hopes and sure enough Sheila gave us the news that one of those would go to us. The excitement for the arrival of “Ace” began.

Every Sunday it was a family event to look at the updates (pictures) from Shela on the TV and ohhhhh and ahhhh on how cute Ace (and the rest of the pups) were.

Well –the 3rd Owyheestar furry baby is home —already Facebook famous!
This photo was taken early Sunday morning. Jill is a good sport and has a great morning looking–her and the puppy. It seems all that preparation paid off–good job Elle. We look forward to receiving your forthcoming updates.
Two Blue Boys
~ First there was Koda–now Mylo

Mylo is everything we hoped for. He is super lovable and smart. While he may not exactly love his kennel during the day, he’s great at night. He sleeps until I wake him up to go out and goes back to sleep with little to no fuss!

Thank you both for adding this adorable little guy to our family!!!

Five of the ten Dixie pups went to either a direct referral–or more typically a repeat client. Yes, two of these loyal OwyheeStar folks flew into Boise to carry their pup home as their carryon–one to Salt Lake City and the other to New Hampshire.
While we are very cautious about the longer distances, some folks work out to be excellent placements. First, the right kind of Weimaraner placement is more important than location. We do what we can–we also meet the most interesting folks along the way. Thanks to Koda and Mylo’s family who live right here in the Treasure Valley. We appreciate you!
Looking For Birds
Our Koda
~Out and About Together

It’s been a while since we checked in so I thought I’d send you a few pictures of Koda. We went out mainly for exercise but also to see if he could stir up any birds.
We covered a lot of distance but unfortunately, the only thing flying was a few geese that came into a pond we were circling. Koda sure had a great time sniffing around and I think he’d do well but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Thank you, we appreciate the update. Koda looks the part–and genetically he would have excellent potential. Both Stackhouse, as well as Sadie, are proven hunters. Of course, it takes a knack to hone the field skills–once they get the idea, it should be fun for the hunter and the companion Weimar, too!
Oh, the places we have gone!
Charlie Mae and Murphy–Part One
~ Home For the Holidays

It’s been TOO long since my last update to you! We are having a wonderful Holiday Season at the Spight house. Charlie Mae and Murphy are doing great and have fully taken to their roles as our Fur Children! Charlie is now 6, and Murphy is 5.
Shared Covers

They sleep with us EVERY night, Murphy prefers to be full-on under the covers (usually rotates to have his face sticking out at some point). Charlie likes to rotate between being partially under the covers and out of the covers (I think she gets too hot). The movement back and forth drives Jill a little crazy, but she still likes to snuggle with them throughout the night also, so they remain as permanent bed companions it seems.
Happy Holidays and lots of love to you all! The Spight Family

We are ever so happy to know your Weim-loving family. It is fabulous to know that both Charlie Mae and Murphy are doing well–at least doing Weimar type things. (Haha)
We loved seeing your annual Christmas Tree Lighting with Charlie Mae. I saw someone copied you–it was a Facebook post a few days ago. Don’t worry Charlie Mae–they cannot be considered the same as you–a Christmas Poster Girl.
Life with Our
Two Weims
~Dharma and Simian
Dharma loves me so much she gave me a dead bird for my birthday
This photo was taken in our back yard. If you look close, Simian has a rock in his mouth, that is a not so fun game he likes to play. “Mom… DON’T try to take my rocks”. Dharma however will try to take anything she can from him. Another note about this photo, look close at Dharma’s thigh muscles, she is about 25 pounds lighter than Simian, but eats the same amount of food as him. She brings the energy of the Weim to a whole new level she is so fast, muscular, and svelte. We are so happy to have them. Simian is quite mellow, so we have hope that as Dharma gets a little older she will mellow a little. If not, I guess it is good for me, because our walks get longer as the days get longer( good for me to have an exercise partner who is always ready to go)
Simian is an excellent frisbee player, I will try to get you a video. Dharma is getting better, but she often tries to catch the frisbee with her front paws

Well, rocks bring shivers. Mr. Dusty has swallowed a rock two times. The first was nearly the undoing of him–major surgery. I was out of town–in Colorado. I will never forget what I found upon my return home. It took a long time to get him back to his friendly demeanor. He didn’t trust people he didn’t know. The experience left him forever reactive to Veterinary scents. We changed Vets not too long after this incident. Rocks are hard on the teeth also. (OMG) The Weimar antics are fraught with danger it seems.
Dharma is a pocket-rocket type of Weimar. Simian is more mellow than Dharma. We think this scenario makes for a good balance. I am sure she will mellow some; however, there is a good chance she will always have two speeds–on (full speed ahead), and off (momentarily plopped down to regain the zest to go again). I guess you could say she is full of life. The Weimar antics are entertaining if nothing else.
