Dunkin

Happy New Year!  Thought I would give you an update on Dunkin…he turns 2 in January.

He is a great family member…he does not consider himself the family ”pet”  ha ha…Smartest family member we have ever had!

He loves water…will launch in after a stick, Frisbee…whatever.  Love pheasants, could care less about quail,  is totally into ducks.  We run into them a lot on our walks but have never hunted them because I would rather go fishing.  He loves fishing in the boat.

He is great around other dogs; my son has a 6-month-old female pound puppy…she is feisty, pretty aggressive……and the two of them can play for hours.

He is an excellent retriever…loves to play Frisbee…is really good at catching it out of the air…we do this when I get home from work…whether I want to or not…..

I hope all is well with you.  Scott

Thanks for the fabulous update. We are so happy to hear that Dunkin is doing well. Sorry, I could not get the video to turn–I hope it works okay.

Athena

~She is adjusting well

Here is a story I thought you would appreciate. Saturday me and My girlfriend Samantha took our puppy to Lowe’s to get some supplies and ran into a gentleman (the name I forgot) who have a beautiful almost 2-year-old blue male Weimaraner named Kota (Dakota) I’m assuming?

He explained he got his dog from you as well and that he got one of the blue males from the same litter as our little girl! Small world! Meanwhile, Athena is having a lot of good experiences beyond the crate training I mentioned last time we spoke.

Also, this link (click here) might be of interest as I am sure she was the main reason we made the news! 2 segments at that!

Hey Nick–we appreciate the cute photos. We are glad that you were able to connect again with Koda’s & Mylo’s family–I am sure you have a playdate in the works. Maybe you didn’t realize it, but yesterday’s blog featured the two Blue boys belonging to the gentleman you met at Lowes.

We hope you will stay in touch–and that your training continues to unfold in an excellent manner. Thanks ever so much for this lovely update.

Two Blue Boys

~ First there was Koda–now Mylo

We love him so much!

Mylo is everything we hoped for.  He is super lovable and smart.  While he may not exactly love his kennel during the day, he’s great at night. He sleeps until I wake him up to go out and goes back to sleep with little to no fuss!

Thank you both for adding this adorable little guy to our family!!!

Five of the ten Dixie pups went to either a direct referral–or more typically a repeat client. Yes, two of these loyal OwyheeStar folks flew into Boise to carry their pup home as their carryon–one to Salt Lake City and the other to New Hampshire.

While we are very cautious about the longer distances, some folks work out to be excellent placements. First, the right kind of Weimaraner placement is more important than location. We do what we can–we also meet the most interesting folks along the way. Thanks to Koda and Mylo’s family who live right here in the Treasure Valley. We appreciate you!

Off To A Good Start

Crate-training

She is really enjoying her new house and already knows her crate is her home and we can hardly keep her from hanging in it all day!

Breeder Comment

We are pleased that she likes her crate. Sometimes the crate training is hard to master. It is good to have a right-sized safe-feeling location. Once they accept it, then the only other hurdle might be if they get territorial. The Weimaraner can be protective of their space–it is a good idea to move the location of the crate from time to time. This helps prevent them from protecting their corner of the room so to speak. (OMG)

Looking For Birds

Our Koda

     ~Out and About Together

This looks interesting

It’s been a while since we checked in so I thought I’d send you a few pictures of Koda.  We went out mainly for exercise but also to see if he could stir up any birds.

We covered a lot of distance but unfortunately, the only thing flying was a few geese that came into a pond we were circling.  Koda sure had a great time sniffing around and I think he’d do well but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Thank you, we appreciate the update. Koda looks the part–and genetically he would have excellent potential. Both Stackhouse, as well as Sadie, are proven hunters. Of course, it takes a knack to hone the field skills–once they get the idea, it should be fun for the hunter and the companion Weimar, too!

Oh, the places we have gone!

Charlie Mae and Murphy–Part One

     ~ Home For the Holidays

Again, Shela, I am Wrapped up for Christmas

It’s been TOO long since my last update to you!  We are having a wonderful Holiday Season at the Spight house.  Charlie Mae and Murphy are doing great and have fully taken to their roles as our Fur Children!  Charlie is now 6, and Murphy is 5.

Shared Covers

They sleep with us EVERY night, Murphy prefers to be full-on under the covers (usually rotates to have his face sticking out at some point).  Charlie likes to rotate between being partially under the covers and out of the covers (I think she gets too hot).  The movement back and forth drives Jill a little crazy, but she still likes to snuggle with them throughout the night also, so they remain as permanent bed companions it seems.

Happy Holidays and lots of love to you all! The Spight Family

We are ever so happy to know your Weim-loving family. It is fabulous to know that both Charlie Mae and Murphy are doing well–at least doing Weimar type things. (Haha)

We loved seeing your annual Christmas Tree Lighting with Charlie Mae. I saw someone copied you–it was a Facebook post a few days ago. Don’t worry Charlie Mae–they cannot be considered the same as you–a Christmas Poster Girl.

Azula

Smart and Opinionated

     ~Quick Study

Azula is super smart, she was already bringing her toy back to me.

Azula_180043

She is an opinionated and self-assured little girl – and has bonded to us quickly.  She’s also been super good about going outside to do her business!  We love her  spunk and affectionate manner. Now if only her tiny raptor teeth were less sharp…

Azula was sleeping in her crate 😊. As you can see, she doesn’t always sleep in her crate.   Right now she’s crashed out next to my 16-year-old.

Other Fur Family

Here she is checking out one of the cats….

Neither of our two cats is amused by her – but the one you saw will actually probably be fine soon – she loves to play and was out hunting voles while we were keeping Azula entertained…

We are happy that little Miss Azula is settling in quickly. Before long, she and the cats will have things worked out–probably a chess match situation. We appreciate the update–the photos and the video is fabulous. We look forward to hearing how things go as she matures. We expect great things. Thanks for your loyalty. We don’t take it lightly.

Idaho Weimar

Happy Birthday

     ~May 28th

Dejah1
Dejah Thoris is 1-year old…all 80lbs of her!  And she was the smallest of her litter (Mesquite X Stackhouse).
She loves when we spend weekends working in the yard.

Addy

At Positive Pets

     ~ See Her in Action

We wanted to check in and update you on Addy. She is doing amazingly well and since we had a trip we could not cancel, we decided to board her with her trainers for some extra training 🙂 thought you might want to see her in action (I attached the video they sent to us today).

6-Livee X Stackhouse 2017 WK5-71

Wow! Last August she looked at us with all her potential. They grow so quickly.

Our Cuddle Bug

She is such a cuddler and has taken to the family beautifully! She enjoys her 30 miles of walking per week and is working hard in school 😉 The kids are doing so well with her and also getting an education on how much work our new family member can be 🙂 We are loving every minute! Thank you again for this opportunity!

PS: Here is the link for the video that explains the training markers and how they are used:
Also, here is a link that talks about the interactive toys that will help teach them the correct things to chew on and keep their minds busy while by themselves.

Dejah Thoris

Happy New Year!

~No More tiny Girl!

Zimmerly's Dejah
Well our little girl, Dejah Thoris, has grown BIG. Are you sure she isn’t a Great Dane?  She started out as the smallest dog in the litter! She now outweighs her big sister!  We think she stays inside and eats all the food while Ayla goes out hunting and running around in the backyard. They love to snuggle by the fire!
I think I remember Kaiser being the big boy of the litter!  I joke about the Great Dane because I have had three in my past life…wanted another one but my husband said absolutely not. My daughter joked that Dejah is disguising as a Great Dane!
We absolutely love her! She rules the house!  She is still learning the difference between her toys and other good things to chew up (like my husband’s wallet and credit cards!)  we can never be mad at her too long because she is so cute!!!!

Breeder Comment

Thank you, for remembering us. The two make a striking couple of co-conspirators looking innocent fireside.

We are often asked to predict the adult size of the Weimaraner. We can make an educated guess, but as you well see, things don’t always go the way they seem. :O)
