~ Chilling with Family for the 4th
We are loving these OwyheeStar Weims, that we got from you folks. All the extended family is here. Everyone can’t believe how well behaved and good mannered they are. ~ Dave (Nampa, Idaho)
It makes us super happy to know you are doing so well with the two Blue Boys. Stay well, and please think of us with any story you might have that we can share on the blog.
~ A Good Report and Life Continues
As you probably remember Ellie’s nose had bumps. After a bunch of testing and biopsy, we still don’t know what was going on with Ellie’s nose. It has healed and is a lot better now. You can still see the somewhat discolored skin, but it’s not that noticeable now.
The good news is that it’s not cancer, and Ellie is doing great. She loves to go to foothills riding shotgun in my truck. She found a deer leg that she didn’t want to give up (but did eventually) and loves to rest in the backseat on the way home (it was hot, though were was lots of water in the streams). We do have to keep a good eye out for rattlesnakes.
We are thrilled to hear that the biopsy was negative. (Yeah!) We are thankful that she loves spending time with you–those trips are special for the both of you.
My Fur Kids!
Here are some more pics of Liesl and of course Hank. Liesl came to live with us on New Year’s Eve, 2019.
Maybe that’s why she’s such a firecracker! The best word to describe her is “spirited.” She is seemingly not afraid of anything! She’ll chase the vacuum cleaner and her brother Hank with equal energy.
We have other moments, too–such as around the house and at the office.
That is very funny that she chases the vacuum. I am sure many a Weim person wished their Weim was fearless. You are busy with the two, thank you for all you do with and for them.
Hello, LuLu is great. She loves to run up in the mountains or go on walks around the neighborhood. She does very well with the gentle leader harness for walks. She does well with basic commands and she was potty trained in just a few short days. She will have formal hunting training later this summer after she turns 6 months in Pocatello. She was easy to crate train and sleeps well through the night. Her best friend to play and wrestle with is a 100 lb German Shepard!
We are beyond happy to hear that Lulu is doing so well. Please keep us posted–we and our audience want to follow her story as it unfolds.
~Cat Tales and Whatnot
Ellie is still having adventures in the Boise foothills (she’s good at finding chukar and quail for fun) and she loves kayaking/rafting trips.
She’s the queen over all the cats as well.
We are happy to hear that Ellie is still doing well–especially that she is the Queen over all the cats–despite what they report.
I wanted to send you an update on Bisbee.
With the serious concerns about the coronavirus we are spending more time at home. It’s all very difficult. The comic relief in our life right now is our adorable 4-month-old Bisbee. His name should really be Busy-bee. He is a real source of joy.
Some things he is loving right now are:
- Joining anyone in the shower – he seems to love water
- Teasing the cat
- Eating any type of shoe he can find (this morning he added eating my glasses to the list ☹)
- Playing with another dog
- Gnawing on antlers
- His crate
- Snuggling when he is tired
Some things he is not loving:
- The sound of the trash can being pulled up the driveway
- Other dogs that come at him quickly
- Rain (Go figure since he loves the shower)
- His puppy food (we are trying some new options)
- Following commands
He is a real joy! Carol
We could not be happier to learn that Bisbee is doing well, and much loved. Thank you for thinking of us. I love that he enjoys getting into the shower.
My neighbors across the street, Cliff and Nancy, were on vacation when you brought Sophia and they got home last Thursday and got to see Sophia on Friday with their “girls.” Annie is 8, a yellow lab, and Sally is 4-ish, a border collie mix that was rescued. Annie and Sally always come running across the street whenever Azura and I are in the front yard, and they did exactly that on Friday. Sophia was overwhelmed, ran under the table, came out to me and then met Annie and Sally one at a time, backed away from Cliff at first, then sniffed his hand and licked his fingers and the games began! In an instant, she was racing around the front yard with Annie and Sally and Azura, actually keeping up with the big girls most of the time. My little girl held her own, for sure! And, best of all, she never went into the street even when Sally would run across the street to her yard and then back to my yard. Later Nancy came over to meet Sophia and Sophia warmed up to Nancy almost as quickly as she did with Cliff, and then she went running back to the girls to join the fun. I’d love to tell you that Sophia stayed in the front yard the next time we were out front and Sally and Annie came over, but she followed Sally across the street, so now we’re going to be slowly going into border training. Oh, and you should know, she figured out how to come in the doggie door in about a week and a half! She hasn’t figured out how to go out, but she’s definitely got the coming in part nailed!
Hope you both are doing well and are enjoying this beautiful weather!
Thank you, Lisa, for sharing this sweet story and the news about Sophia.
-It Has Been a Year
Henry turned one in December– we got him a year ago in Feb. He’s huge. And loving, very clever and hilarious. He’s such a wonderful pup!
We met some friends who also have one blue and one grey weim! How funny!! Haha And of course, here he is looking beautiful and ready for Christmas. One more fun fact about Henry!! He is SOOOOOO vocal! He sings and talks when he wants things! Is he part husky! Haha
Then there are other laughable as well as adorable moments–we captured some of those here.
We cannot thank you enough for this fabulous update on Henry. He looks to be thriving, and what we notice the most is he is integral to all things family. From all appearances, the resident Gray boy accepted the new OwyheeStar Blue Boy. What a cute pair they make.
~AT Three Years Plus
I can’t Express what a joy Ruger has been to our family. I meant to send you a pic and message on his birthday on June 7th when he turned 3! I can’t believe he is 3 already!
In March, my son Logan and I took a road trip with Ru as we call him for short…to Cannon Beach! What an awesome place, especially for dogs! We stopped in Hood River for a night and spent 4 more nights in Cannon Beach. We all had so much fun! Ruger Loves the beach. We will make this an annual trip for sure!
I was a little nervous about the 8 plus hour car ride from Middleton ID. But with stops along the way he did great!! He is such a great addition to our family! Thanks Shela and Cliff for such a great pup! We all love him so much! More updates to come!
Beth, Jeff, Logan and Maisy
All too often, I wish I were an OwyheeStar Weimaraner–all these trips to the beach and whatnot. (OMG) We are happy to read that Ruger is much-loved and included in all the fun. Thank you–we appreciate you thinking of us. Happy three years–here’s to hoping for many more.
~Rabies shot day!
She is waiting patiently. After our shot we went to Lowe’s and Foster made a comment “people are sure a lot nicer when you have a dog!” Lol!
Duchess got a lot of attention from other customers AND treats from the checker at the store so even though she was a little shy she had a positive experience.
