Shadow

Super Bone Sunday!

Shadow experienced his first Super Bowl Sunday at almost a year old! As such, we got him an extra special quiet treat do we could watch the game! It was quite funny watching him figure out how to chew on it!! Shadow shared little pieces with his little pup bro and sis too!

He is still so much fun, he loves putting just his front paws on the couch and standing tall so we can scratch his chest. He always looks so regal when he’s posing like that!

Best wishes and happy Feburrrrrary from SE Idaho!

Shadow seems to be thriving, and we appreciate all your work to train and incorporate him into your family. Thank you for thinking of us with this lovely update.

Happy Birthday, Luna

~Lovely in Red

December 13, 2020–Luna’s birthday is today, what a truly wonderful dog! Luna, formerly known as Andrea is wearing red. Her parents are Boone and Dahlia. Luna’s sidekick in this photo is our foster Weim named Bebee.

These Weimies are so comical. When they got their new coats today they leaped all around in the snow squealing with delight. They are such bundles of joy. Thank you very much, Shela and Cliff. Merry Christmas, friends! : )

We are thrilled to learn that Luna is doing so well, and has a foster sister, too. Some asked us not long ago if we had heard from you –they have a littermate and worked with you on campus. We love the red jacket. Merry Christmas.

Gemma

~All is Well

She loves her stuffed birds

We are all doing great since our little girl came home to us! We are calling her “Gemma”. We just love her; and she and Susse get along great. No accidents in the house at all.

She loves to play inside the house and outside. She is a fast learner – knows her name and the command “Here” already. Oh, and she loves to chew!

Breeder Comment

Thank you for your concerted effort to get Gemma off to an excellent start. Of course, you are an experienced Weimar family. She is in good hands. We hope to receive news of her and Susse’s antics as they become co-conspirators of the best kind.

Mando

~ Daddy’s Boy

Mando is 8 months old as of Nov 3rd, and is doing great!  We got him in for his neuter 2 weeks ago and all went great with that.  I just love the medical shirts that have now.  Jill was able to find Ace’s shirt and save us a few $$ by using it for Mando.  For the last round of shots we did do the Titer test and he showed too low so we did get the last round of shots and then another Titer and things came back acceptable.

Mando is just about 50 lbs. so far and finally able to hold his own with his big brother Ace (2yr old blue longhair OwyheeStar Weim).  The two blue boys (I call them the BBC – Blue Boy Club) play ALL the time it seems.  Mando is the brother that actually wants to play with Ace (unlike his older siblings were when Ace joined the family).  Ace and Mando’s very favorite game is playing keep-away with the ball.  It might be mostly Mando’s favorite game, but Ace doesn’t seem to mind!

Mando is a daddy’s boy and when it’s time to relax for the night, more often than not he finds me and plops down half on the couch and half on me!  I love this beyond words, our time in quarantine together really cemented our bond!  Every night when it’s bedtime, I call him and in he jumps into bed and stays there through the night.  Having said that, he loves everyone, he’s taking to whining when we get home and take him out of his crate.  He does so in a way that’s unlike any of our other Weim’s!  It’s hilarious, I should try to get a video of it to share.  He probably makes the most noise for Elle (my 15 year old daughter), as she seems to get him the most spun up greeting him after getting home.

Hope you like the photos– thanks again for all that you do for us Weimlovers!!!

We are so happy to hear that Mando is doing well–a perfect fit for your family. The photos are fabulous.

As you might know, we have been discussing vaccine reactions on the blog earlier this week. On Monday we talked in general about vaccine for the Weimaraner puppy, then on Tuesday we shared Luna’s story ‘Cautionary Tale‘ as shared by Luna’s Mom Kris. After those two days of talking vaccine and vaccine reactions, we have posted updates. This Mando Update is the perfect end to this week’s focus. We will be talking about Vaccine Titer Testing next week–so, Mando’s experience is the perfect intro to further discussion. Thank you for all you do for your OwyheeStar Fur Family Members–we truly appreciate your family

A Decade of Colby

So Much Happiness Shared

Can you believe Colby is 10? It seems like we just brought him home!
The last decade has brought us so much happiness.  It’s hard to think about everything having a weimaraner has done for us and sum it all up.  But if I had to sum it up in 3 words, I would say best. dog. ever!
These days, Colby prefers lazing around the house and snuggling.  He doesn’t ever hesitate to tell me when it’s bedtime.  Most nights, my husband comes to bed after me. So Colby takes his place and often nudges his face in my shoulder until daddy comes and kicks him out of his spot.
As he develops more gray around the muzzle, I realize that our time with him is slowly becoming more limited.  Still though, we will continue to enjoy every moment we can for however many more years we are blessed to have him.

These are some favorite photos of Colby over the last 10 years along with a video celebrating his birthday. We celebrated his 10 years with a little bit of home made (doggy friendly) ice cream and some peanut butter. He was a happy boy.

Jenn, thanks for remembering us with this lovely update. You have been faithful to stay in touch all these years and give us photos, funny stories, and newsy reports. We do so appreciate it. While being deployed, you sent that great video of you Skyping with Colby–you are the best. Thanks ever so much for everything –and especially for your service.

Dixie

~Furniture Allowed

I thought I would give you an update on Dixie(pink collar). We have all adjusted pretty well.

All of our ideas about her not getting on the furniture went out the window. She is such a snuggler that it is impossible to resist!

She is smart, stubborn, sweet little girl. Hope all is well with you!

Breeder Comment

All bets are off–and what can we say, most Weims are furniture approved. It is hard to snuggle if they never get on your bed, sofa, or in a chair. Somehow when they wiggle into your heart they find a way on the furniture more often than not.

Sophia

~ Growing Fast

I love the portrait photo of her! She was so tiny not all that long ago. Maybe you remember her with her sister Azura–a Doberman. Azura wasn’t too sure about this addition at first.

Now, they are inseparable, and she holds her own with her big sister. A friendly game of tug-o-war can happen, but snuggling works its way into the mix, and these days Azura readily accepts her shadow.

Breeder Comment

We love hearing about Sophia and how she interacts with Azura. Thanks for all the hard work you are putting into her. We hope she fulfills all you imagined.

Memphis

~ Idaho OwyheeStar Blue

Thought I’d send you some update photos of Memphis! Can’t thank you enough for this incredible addition to our family!

Thank you, for thinking of us –we cannot be happier that you shared these moments in time, and that you love Memphis.

Steel and Slate

~ Chilling with Family for the 4th

We are loving these OwyheeStar Weims, that we got from you folks.   All the extended family is here. Everyone can’t believe how well behaved and good mannered they are.  ~ Dave (Nampa, Idaho)

It makes us super happy to know you are doing so well with the two Blue Boys. Stay well, and please think of us with any story you might have that we can share on the blog.

Ellie

~ A Good Report and Life Continues

As you probably remember Ellie’s nose had bumps. After a bunch of testing and biopsy, we still don’t know what was going on with Ellie’s nose.   It has healed and is a lot better now.  You can still see the somewhat discolored skin, but it’s not that noticeable now.

The good news is that it’s not cancer, and Ellie is doing great.  She loves to go to foothills riding shotgun in my truck.  She found a deer leg that she didn’t want to give up (but did eventually) and loves to rest in the backseat on the way home (it was hot, though were was lots of water in the streams).   We do have to keep a good eye out for rattlesnakes.

Breeder Commentary

We are thrilled to hear that the biopsy was negative. (Yeah!) We are thankful that she loves spending time with you–those trips are special for the both of you.
