~In Idaho

Thought you might like a 12week (almost 13) update on our out Henry!

He’s amazing. He loves to play fetch and so good at the return. He is learning and listening so well. Still mastering the potty training, but great as long as we are paying attention! He’s such a funny pup and so smart! He is able to play hide and seek with toys and people. He’s catching on so we’ll to words we use. He is obedient to sit, stay, lay down, come and ‘outside’ (our word for potty!) He has even mastered wiping his feet when he comes back in, on the rug…. For a treat of course! He has grown SO much and going to need a bigger bed soon!

Sorry some of the pics are blurry! He’s not still for long! ~Jill and Clint

Hello There–we are so happy to hear from you. Just look at what is happening, you are doing great things. We cannot be happier to hear the news and to these photos. Thanks ever so much!

Polka Dot X Blue Gal

~Our Heidi

Heidi goes almost everywhere with us, and is in great health, with the exception of some residual trouble with her right rear knee after TPLO surgery. She still runs like a maniac after the squirrels, but sometimes pays for it later.  We’ve kept her on the probiotics and NuVet vitamins since day one, and we seem to have avoided any trouble with sensitivity to different foods or other issues.  Thanks again for our beautiful girl!

We Would Love to Hear News

We would love to see other photos of Heidi’s siblings, and know how they are doing. As you might guess, we were delighted to read about Penny, a littermate of Heidi.

I posted a comment on the article about Penny, Heidi’s sister.  Maybe if you read this and happen to have a photo or story you will Email it to Shela for the blog. ~ Val

Breeder Comment

Thank you, Val for commenting on Heidi’s sister Penny. It is nice that two are living the life–one in Idaho, and the other in British Columbia on a ranch. Maybe someone will read the blog and send along a story, some photos, or some tidbit of information about another littermate. We cannot guess what will happen. Life is busy–sometimes people forget about us until they suffer the unthinkable–a loss. We are always sad with them, and at the same time so happy for all the years they had together.

Mylo

~ Makes Two

Mylo is growing as time is flying by.  It’s hard to believe he’s been with us for 2 months already.  He’s such a smart, loveable boy!  As you can see, he loves his big brother Koda and also his humans!  I hope you are both doing well and wanted to thank you again for sharing these adorable boys with our family.

Thanks, Chris

Breeder Comment

It is excellent to hear that Mylo is much-loved and doing well. Thanks for these adorable photos of your two OwyheeStars.

Cat and Mouse

~Without the real Mouse

Ellie likes to play with the cat.

Breeder Comment

Ellie shares the sofa, too!

Ellie has always had a funny relationship with her cat. We love how you keep us up to date on her antics as well as their relationship. Friends come along in unexpected ways–or they don’t always look as expected.

Dunkin

Happy New Year!  Thought I would give you an update on Dunkin…he turns 2 in January.

He is a great family member…he does not consider himself the family ”pet”  ha ha…Smartest family member we have ever had!

He loves water…will launch in after a stick, Frisbee…whatever.  Love pheasants, could care less about quail,  is totally into ducks.  We run into them a lot on our walks but have never hunted them because I would rather go fishing.  He loves fishing in the boat.

He is great around other dogs; my son has a 6-month-old female pound puppy…she is feisty, pretty aggressive……and the two of them can play for hours.

He is an excellent retriever…loves to play Frisbee…is really good at catching it out of the air…we do this when I get home from work…whether I want to or not…..

I hope all is well with you.  Scott

Thanks for the fabulous update. We are so happy to hear that Dunkin is doing well. Sorry, I could not get the video to turn–I hope it works okay.

Looking For Birds

Our Koda

     ~Out and About Together

This looks interesting

It’s been a while since we checked in so I thought I’d send you a few pictures of Koda.  We went out mainly for exercise but also to see if he could stir up any birds.

We covered a lot of distance but unfortunately, the only thing flying was a few geese that came into a pond we were circling.  Koda sure had a great time sniffing around and I think he’d do well but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Breeder Comment

Thank you, we appreciate the update. Koda looks the part–and genetically he would have excellent potential. Both Stackhouse, as well as Sadie, are proven hunters. Of course, it takes a knack to hone the field skills–once they get the idea, it should be fun for the hunter and the companion Weimar, too!

Pretending

     ~No Cats Allowed

Ellie loves to rest on the couch by the fire with her blanket covering her.  Unfortunately, so do the cats. The black cat likes to “knead dough” on the blanket, especially if Ellie is under it.  This really annoys Ellie.  In this picture, Ellie is pretending the cats aren’t there.

All the Best,  Bob

Breeder Comment

Thank you, Bob, for sharing Ellie’s dilemma. I am sure she is not the first to cope with unwanted attention in this manner. You’d think though, that she would relish the idea of the kitty-kneading away. What a silly girl she is–and those cats make sure they are never too far away. (Haha)

Our Life With

Azula

20180927_150541

Azula is growing like a weed.  She went from 10 lbs. last Monday to 13 lbs. today!  She has been sleeping most of the night and has learned come, sit, and down.  We are also working on “crate”, “kisses” and stop (especially when she starts getting too mouthy).

20181005_155402The cats are still wary of her, but our normally skittish cat is actually much more nonchalant about her than the other one.

She has been absolutely delightful unless she is in one of her frenzied teething fits, when she sees us as fair game for chewing on.

While she still doesn’t love her crate, she has occasionally retreated to it for naps. She did have a bout of diarrhea last week, so the vet held off on her parvo shots until today.  I’m attaching a couple of photos for you…

And here is a link to a video from tonight, of our very opinionated baby girl:  Azula Fetching

I hope all is well with you guys! Stay dry and warm, ~Christine

We are happy to hear about Azula and her adventures. We cannot emphasize what it means to be hearing from so many of you this fall. We truly appreciate it. In truth, I burn through the updates pretty quickly at a blog a day. (Haha) I am sure Azula’s littermates are thrilled to see her cute face again, too!

One Year Plus

Hello from Pocatello, Idaho

     ~Did someone say TREAT!

Dejah-754b71a1d14f (1)Here is Dejah Thoris (Mesquite x Stackhouse) at 1 year 2mo…and 84 lbs!  Her older sister by one year, Vizsla named Ayla, is 54 lbs. They eat the same amount of food but Ayla is an obsessive squirrel hunter who will focus on the task for hours while Dejah comes back in the house after 30 minutes to sit on the couch with me.
We are loving our very big puppy!

Thank you, both for thinking of us with this fabulous photo and the news about Dejah. I think Dejah knows her role within the family structure.

Azula

Smart and Opinionated

     ~Quick Study

Azula is super smart, she was already bringing her toy back to me.

Azula_180043

She is an opinionated and self-assured little girl – and has bonded to us quickly.  She’s also been super good about going outside to do her business!  We love her  spunk and affectionate manner. Now if only her tiny raptor teeth were less sharp…

Azula was sleeping in her crate 😊. As you can see, she doesn’t always sleep in her crate.   Right now she’s crashed out next to my 16-year-old.

Other Fur Family

Here she is checking out one of the cats….

Neither of our two cats is amused by her – but the one you saw will actually probably be fine soon – she loves to play and was out hunting voles while we were keeping Azula entertained…

Breeder Comment

We are happy that little Miss Azula is settling in quickly. Before long, she and the cats will have things worked out–probably a chess match situation. We appreciate the update–the photos and the video is fabulous. We look forward to hearing how things go as she matures. We expect great things. Thanks for your loyalty. We don’t take it lightly.
