The Dog Park & More
In Perfect Harmony
Today is THE day that we have worked toward and practiced for since we became a team almost 3 years ago!!
Today Shiny and I melded together in perfect harmony to run 7 miles…on leash. No pulling, swerving or stopping to sniff.
In perfect step with each other – even though we were on the well traveled (and breath taking) Glenwood Canyon trail.
It was if he was owning his “job” regardless of bicycles, tourists, and other dogs.
“I am running with my Mom. Don’t bother me.”
And it was Beautiful!!!! ~Julia and Shiny
There are no adequate words to describe our admiration and appreciation. You and Shiny are doing amazing things together. This running with purpose (and in unison) is one more area where we see the fruit of all your consistent labor. We look forward to hearing more about Shiny–maybe next time it will be another bit of Nosework news. Thanks ever so much for this update.
The urban retrieve!
When Luke is not swimming in the pool in the desert he doubles as a backyard urban retriever in between runs in the park.
Well Deserved Rest

He has proven to be one of the most adaptable dogs we’ve had … Cal
Guess who’s birthday it is!
We are heading to the beach this weekend for his birthday weekend at his favorite place! He literally goes crazy and into a frenzy at the sight of the sandy beaches.
~ Here is Our Update
I am way overdue for a Charlie Blue update! Our lives have changed quite a bit in the last year. We got an English Bulldog puppy and moved from Boise to Seattle.
Charlie despised Bosa when we first brought him home. Bosa is almost a year old now. Charlie tolerates him, but he’s still not her favorite.
She prefers to snuggle with our kiddos and our cat, Ish. Charlie has made new friends in Seattle and she loves the ocean. I will never forget the moment when she first encountered waves. But some things never change.
She still loves retrieving, swimming, racing in snow, finding birds (even when we aren’t hunting), going on fishing and camping trips, running free, stealing food, ripping up pillows, and hogging the bed.
I create a photo collage of Charlie for her birthday every year. I can’t believe she’s five! We love her more every day. She truly is the best family dog.
Charlie Blue has an interesting life. We do so appreciate everything you have done with and for her. Thank you, for remembering us. It means the world.
This is All I Have To Say, says Bella… “zilch because my app won’t work here for you.”
She is getting so big and she’s so good she doesn’t bark all the time only when necessary which I like. She’s just wonderful.
I’m glad you have your process it shows as a breeder that you are concerned about the pet and where it is going not a lot of people do that they’re just in it for the buck Bella is the best thing that could have happened to me and Levi although sometimes Levi might not agree with that lol it was definitely worth the wait.
This, of Course.
Bella is a bad influence on the 10yr old Levi the lab who never used to do stuff like looking out the window like this LOL I’m glad she’s doing it though now I have two spies on the neighborhood
Ah–Debbie has created a series of talking Weim videos. You might find some on Bella on the Weim Crime Page. I don’t frequent there. Other things require my time and attention; however, I know many of our readers spend considerable time on that Page. I tried, without success, to repost them here. Cliff and I laughed so hard. Bella’s voice, describing her life is beyond funny. We love those of you who enjoy your OwyheeStar family, and then you take the time to share with us –and sometimes I can post it for our audience at large.
At Almost Two
~ Part One
Thank you, for sharing this information about Henry. Everyone likes to read what others experience–how they train and manage their Weimaraner. We so appreciate all you have done with and for Henry. Keep up your efforts.
At two–you expect them to turn a corner. Nonetheless, many claim Weimaraner teenage flakiness can pop up even until they are past their third birthday. Then too–we are talking about the Weimaraner. Do they ever grow up? Good question. There are always the Weimaraner quirks and quandaries. Some of this is directly related to your relationship and how easy you are to manipulate. Some of it is the breed. Kudo’s to this family who finds a way to go above and beyond with Henry.
Waiting At the Bus Stop
Just a quick update on Remy. She is doing so great! She has a very sweet personality, and she sure is smart. She enjoys getting out for little walks and is getting much better at walking on the leash. Every day she waits with me at the bus stop for the kids to get home and she now starts her excited tail wagging as soon as the bus rounds the corner. She has so easily fit into our family.
She is still doing great with potty training and being in the crate. She has also learned to sit, stay, come and even shake. We haven’t worked with her much yet but she picks up the commands quickly. She is getting better with the biting, a few times we have used a little spray bottle to spray a bit of water in her face to stop her, but she usually can be redirected with a chew toy. I cannot believe how much she has already grown! She has a big appetite.😀 She is a joy and such a beautiful dog. We are so happy she has joined our family.I hope you are all well and we’ll stay in touch!Haley
I just want to thank you both again for bringing this little boy (“Bear”) into my life. He had a rough time in his first few weeks of life, and it was questionable if he would pull through. But he is a survivor and is definitely making up for lost time.We are having a great time bonding and getting to know each other. He is super smart and has already learned to retrieve to my hand (amazing!). He is such a fast learner. I’m impressed. We have many more things to learn together. You both do a great job and I am thankful for your gift.
This pup is the little boy who gave us so much concern. A round of antibiotics and he bounced back with no sign of an issue. He has such a great personality. Not every pup gets off to the perfect start. No Breeder wants to talk about mortality rates. Places like AKC publish those statistics. We secretly are thankful our numbers are below average. Nonetheless, no one can avoid every problem. It is impossible.
We are happy that you folks wanted ‘Bear’ even knowing full well about his early challenges. We are blessed indeed to meet some of the planet’s best humans. Thank you, for loving this boy so much.
