While We Wait

~ We celebrated Christmas Weim-style

Hope your Christmas was a blessed one!  I know ours was!!
Nutz and my grandpup, Rhea, had a good one too!!

They received new speaker toys, which got destroyed by the end of the night.  For some reason, they want that sqeaker to chew on.  Heehee.  They also received some special treats, which they LOVED, and wouldn’t share.  Haha
They thought it was their job to  help us open our gifts, so of course we let them.   Who can deny a weim that pleasure? 🥰
Thank you so much for our blessed pup!  Cant wait for her sister to get here!

Second Christmas

~Chester speaks about family life

This is my second Christmas, Mom and Dad brought home a big tree again… they dont even let me bring sticks into the house, so unfair. They keep bringing in all sorts of stuff they don’t want me to play with. It isn’t fair I’m pretty sure they should share.

Mom has all the stuff that she is wrapping in paper, weird huh. Sometimes when she isnt looking I take some of the stuff and try to run away to get her attention.

Mom got me a new sweater since I’ve gotten bigger since last year. She made me stand in front of her tree and told me to sit and stay but I didn’t really want to. One of my favorite things is to climb into mommy’s lap I can tell she is cold and needs me to warm her up. I can tell she loves it too. Merry Christmas and happy New year!

Chester (aka Winchester), thank you for writing this lovely note right amid the holiday hubbub. I guess you don’t have too much work other than keeping your Mom warm, snuggled, and entertained–and on her toes, also. The snatching of paper –Oh my gosh, I am sure she scolds you and then laughs, right?!? We love your new sweater–and that you are living the dream–other than not being allowed to chew on the tree and snatch packages.

Whats a sugar plum?

Weimar Christmas Dream

It was a cold and winter-white afternoon. Lunch was being made, and we were whisked to a safe place today. I and like others found myself crated out of the way. There was the hustle and bustle as Mom had enlisted some extra muscle.

Boxes and crates were being taken down. Treasures unpacked all around. Cinnamon and spice and everything nice filled my senses and caused me to yearn. Groceries came earlier; I was to learn. There was pumpkin, apples, and mincemeat pies. Turkey was roasting –no great surprise. Our moans were hushed with a treat meant to suffice. The unpacking, baking, and general melee went on into the night.

From our vantage, all good things out of reach. We awaited our moment, an opportunity to streak. Big red balls on the tree were strung. Then came the paper, the ribbons, the candy, but dog treats there were none.

Soon the release and we dash for the tree. We can knock it over and strip it with glee. I’ll take the angel–you get a ribbon. We will run through the house and with the greatest of ease — what a holiday game they have prepared.

Oh, now look–they are making things more fun. What is this a paper fest? Look at the packages, bags, and ribbons. What joy we will have stripping them clean. We will get this place in order soon, but what of the tree. The tree is a bit large to drag–but oh, what a great pee-post it will make. I’m not into clothes you see, however, the tree skirt would make a perfect cape for me.

Just when we thought it could get no better–out came the gingerbread village — Yum and woof woof. Our tummies are rolling; the juices are flowing. We can’t believe it– such a great day is being planned all for our fun.

Woof, did you say we have ham for tomorrow??? We love Christmas!

First Christmas

    ~With Chester in Oregon

Chester has been helping Mama wrap presents and when I say help, but I mean stealing all the presents and trying to run away with them. Luckily I have caught him before the presents are ruined. I think Chester is worried he is on the naughty list because he has decided to bark at my Santa on the mantel then proceed to run away. He brings me so much joy and laughter. Brandon and I both love him so much! Happy holidays!

Yuppers I am having my first Christmas

We are ever so thankful to you folks–and happy for Chester.

Santa–well maybe we can consider that a fat guy dressed in red who suddenly appears to stare at Chester, is a bit disconcerting. Where did he come from? He wasn’t there before. And he just stares at me with those twinkly eyes, Mom. What’s up with that?

Questions Answered

?? Have You Been Naughty or Nice??

Mesquite says, “give a minute and I will show you naughty.”
“I’ll eat this darned Santa Hat and we will be done with it.”

Lyle Writes

Mesquite is a fun dog, and we enjoy having fun with her! She is the smartest dog I have ever had. She is the only dog I have owned that doesn’t bother while your eating at the table. She lays on a rug behind my chair, when I am done eating and slide my chair back she gets up.

Breeder Comment

Honestly, this breed is the worst about surfing the counter or the table. So, you are beyond fortunate that she is not a beggar.

The photo is fabulous even though Mesquite is not impressed that you would not let her pass on it. (Haha)

In Preparation

Antlers

      ~No Way! Not having it!

Dad was out of town. Mama said let’s get our act together because Christmas is coming. We need some preparation. She was others wearing the Antlers. I had a lesson to teach her about this ridiculous idea. Hover over the photo’s bottom edge, and you will see my thoughts.

Playing Stackhouse Santa

     ~It’s my Gig!

As you can see, I make a good Santa. One question though– is there some practice cookies? The good ones; not the junkie cheap things. I eat them too, but when I work, it requires a bit more. What about a dollop of whipped cream on top? Just saying… “Woof!”

Weimar Games

The tree has been decked.

The packages wrapped

The ribbons have been nibbled or snatched for the track.

I am rethinking Christmas and all that comes with

Maybe next year the tree from the ceiling is it.

I ponder the ribbons and wrap.

Metal boxes and trunks will fill the bill.

Boots instead of stockings

with edibles set outside to chill.

The car trunk makes for safe keeping.

While pondering the changes,

Along came a clatter.

From the kitchen, the pie plate left the counter.

Flecks of pumpkin amidst his lips.

Back to the drawing board –I guess it is.

Meanwhile, the Weimar plots and plans.

How about a game of toss the snowball?

Here’s A Thought

The Christmas Tree is Up

Frisch Christmas Tree_3643We put our tree up early just to see if we could still do it!!! Here is Gracie showing Harley the ropes in that usually fenced off area we call the living room! She didn’t go near the tree – nothing to eat there. He gave it a sniff and then they both stretched out on the sofa for a nap! Yawn. We’ll wait on ornaments until December. One step at a time!!
Best to you and happy Thanksgiving!!

The most extreme solution to tree-safety we have seen is the one hanging from the ceiling upside down. The tree (without the ornaments) is an idea for those who prefer a more traditional approach. Everyone’s lifestyle and the environment are a bit different. A person has to adapt and be creative it seems–many of you will be considering adding a tree. Many thanks to Nancy and Tony for their share. We hope you enjoy it as well.

Capturing Photos

Tell me again why we do this!

The insanity of it all cannot be overstated. Until it is your turn to capture the Weim’s photo, you might not appreciate what goes on behind the scenes. Or, more aptly you might not give it much thought.

No Mama; Not Santa

Merry Christmas   ~Sara

Breeder Comment

Mia might not have been amazed. Regardless, the photo was captured and will be treasured. Should you attempt a Santa photo with the Weimaraner? That is going to depend upon how well the Weimaraner is socialized. It is going to depend upon the setting. Not every Santa is fur family member friendly. It is hard to beat Terri Jacobsen’s Santa, and he has been captured with a variety of critters. His expressions are priceless. The camera loves him.

Don’t ask your Weimaraner to do something that they are not ready to handle. Things can go badly. Even thought Miss Mia didn’t appreciate Santa, they captured a great photo. Know what you should ask and limit the risk factor. No picture is worth freaking them out and having a scene. Holiday stress and the demands that come with add up for everyone. Our fur family members are not the exception. Can you imagine? They must go along with the insanity.
