Maize Turns “9”

Livee X Blue 2/28/2012

At age nine, our beautiful, fun and loving Maizie really enjoys her naps—but she is still full of playful puppy energy!  She has a set schedule of when and where she likes to do things.  She can tell time and wants to eat promptly at 7:00 am and 4:30 pm.  She has an expected after-breakfast ritual of getting peanut butter in the 4 sections of her big black Kong bone.  She runs upstairs to find it—and races back down the stairs into the kitchen and drops it on the floor at our feet for service!  Then after that ritual, she expects to shake paws for 2 Quaker Oatmeal Squares and 3 blueberries!  (How did she ever teach us that?!)  She loves to cuddle after breakfast and some days becomes very vocal—almost singing and silly.  She leaves us promptly if she sees a spot where the sun may be shining in on the floor (or on the guest room bed–formerly taboo, but won us over eventually!)

Squirrel spotting and chasing is her pastime at home.  She sounds ferocious as she protects our backyard from them—but she wouldn’t know what to do if she got one!  She has come nearly nose-to-nose with some on her walks—which becomes a stare-down contest!  She gets a little dish of baby carrots every evening during our dinner meal—doled out one by one–as she lies politely and patiently on her fleece.  Have you ever heard of a dog who asks for a lick of toothpaste every evening at bedtime when she sees me brushing my teeth?! Another ritual!!  Maizie is a happy, healthy girl who brings smiles, laughs and joy to our lives every single day.

Mmmm…carrots and popcorn birthday treats!  Why do you make me wear this silly hat every year?  Actual “Maizie Socks!” (gift from our kids!)

P.S.  Maizie loves packages because they often contain new toys for her!  This one came from Chewy for her birthday!  She can’t keep soft toys though….they turn into multiple pieces very quickly!

We rejoice in the nine years — remembering her being a paper shredder and so much more. Thanks for remembering us and for taking such great care of Maizie.

It’s me, Porsche

~ I Celebrated Five Candles

My fifth birthday was last Saturday, October 3rd.  Sometimes, I worry when Mom oohs and aahs over the puppy pictures you post. Then, I remind her of all the things I do for her including: picking up things she has dropped; notifying her of the phone and alarms; helping her get up off the ground; being quiet and polite at book club, and snuggling.  After that, she makes big over me, and we are both happy and content.

Dear Porsche, you have not a thing to worry about, my adorable, sweet girl. Your Mama has not contacted me about another Weimaraner. She is living vicariously through those photos–remembering the time she brought you home. You are a marvelous Longhair OwyheeStar Ambassador–thank you for that, and Happy Birthday.

Ava Blue

~ 12 Candles

Hard to believe it has been 12 years since we picked up this bundle of love from you!!!

Ava Blue (Megan x Blue) turned 12 and spent the day lounging next to me.

Happy Birthday Ava Blue–thanks for being such a sweet girl all these years.

Pepper Ann

~ At One

Heres some updated pictures of Pepper Ann. She just turned a year old and still loves adventuring with mom and dad and now her little sister we just welcomed to the family a week ago. She’s been pretty gentle and seems to understand her baby is fragile.

Thanks again for such a great pup

Revelry

~My Blue Longhair Girl

Once Upon a Time
At Work with Mom

Today (5/15/2019) Revelry Blue (Stackhouse x Zula Blue) turns 1! What a journey the last 10 months have been. Revelry is smart, cheeky, and full of spunk. She comes to work with me almost every day and has been a fantastic demo dog, always eager to help all the young puppies in class learn how to be the best they can be. She is a real dog’s dog, especially fond of the little ones (probably because she’s been raised with 2 little older Dachshund sisters). She is by far the calmest Weimaraner I’ve ever known and apart from a hole-digging phase, amazingly hasn’t been destructive at all.

There have been downs with all the ups as well. Revelry, while calm, has also been dealing with anxiety, spooking a lot at strange or new things. Small children have been our biggest foe. They are tiny and move weirdly, and Revelry finds them to be most alarming. That said, we have come a very long way already and are continually working hard to desensitize her to all potential scary things, large, small, and loud!

Revelry is set to take her Canine Good Citizen test next month and I am 100% certain she is going to pass! She has been such an easy dog to train and I can tell that she truly enjoys learning. People are constantly commenting on both her incredible beauty and wonderful manners. This girl occasionally tests me, but she also makes me so proud every single day. I love her to the moon.

Thank you for all that you do, but mostly for allowing me to be this sweet girl’s mom.

All our best,

Emily and Revelry

Dear Emily–thank you for taking the time to write to us about your first year with Revelry. She has every advantage with you being a dog trainer–I am sure you have everything managed.

Our Bella turned one on July 14th.

It seems like it was yesterday we brought her home.  She is now a pure 80 lbs of love.   She has the girliest personality and likes to cuddle only when she feels like it, so it’s a treat for us when she lets us cuddle her LOL.  She is also a barker; she barks at clouds, at the wind, when she sees a school bus … Just about anything 🙂 .. Her sad puppy eyes make it possible for her have us wrapped around her paw, and she knows it too.

Balloons — Seriously Mom?

We got her balloons for her birthday, but it turned out that she is terrified of balloons. Lucky for us we were able to snap a few pictures before she walked away. She is our adorable Miss Bella, and we love her.
