Oscar

Oscar continues to be a very healthy and fantastic dog.  He is 10 years old now and still as playful as ever.  He has had no health issues at all and I hope he lives for another 10 years.

Liana and I have been thinking a bit about getting a companion for him.  We got Oscar when our previous weim was 10 and it seemed to work out good so I wanted to see if you were planning any new litters in the next little while.  I am not sure how the logistics would work for getting a puppy across the border yet but I am sure we can figure all this out as we go.  We would probably stick with a short hair male and are not stuck on colour.

We are happy to hear Oscar continues to be healthy and do well. Of course, we hope he lives to a ripe old age, but as with all living creatures–we never know how many days we get. Each one is precious–and there are never enough days to be had with our beloved Weimaraner. We look forward to working with you again.

~ Still doing well in Calgary

It’s been a while but i thought I would send along a picture of Oscar.  He is 8 now and still thinks he is a puppy but sure loves his cuddles with mom and dad.

Other than a few lumps of fat he has been healthy as an ox and an absolute joy.  I hope you and your family are keeping well and staying safe during these times.

Everyone realizes that we don’t know how many days we get with our beloved fur-family members. Each moment is precious. We are so happy to learn that Oscar is still puppy-like and cuddling with his favorite humans. Thanks for the update.

News From Calgary

Swimming Today!

img_20161016_101735Oscar continues to enjoy the mountain life.  Went swimming today (October 16, 2016) despite frigid temps.

I hope all is well with you. Take care.  ~Jeff

Breeder Comment

Thank You, Jeff! While so many Weimlovers are concerned about a jacket at the first sign of cooler temps, here is Oscar braving icy water for a swim. These are amazing creatures, to say the least, and if they are moving, they seem to ignore the cold. Of course, it is relative. Whatever you get used to works doesn’t it?

More and more folks are getting their Weimaraners to swim. It is an awesome activity. It is a healthy way to burn off a lot of energy and at the same time a great game. The water retrieve–we recommend it! The temperatures in Calgary have been a little below ours–only slightly. We have been close to freezing a few mornings. One morning frost thus far, but the temperature seems to hover between 35 and 65 degrees. For the most part, it has been between 40 and 60 degrees. Nonetheless, a cold morning swim in icy water doesn’t appeal to us. What a trooper!

Best Dog Ever

Tango Gets It Done!

I thought that I would send you a note.  Tango is just the best dog we could have ever hoped for.  Great family dog, great with kids, our cats, other dogs…. tango-boys

I have not spent as much time training him for hunting as I had hoped.  We were just out last weekend for the guys “Cast & Blast” weekend hunting Chucker and Bass fishing down on the Snake River.  This weekend is challenging for him.  We hunt with other people, multiple people shooting, multiple birds down….Plus it is on the steep rocky slopes of the Snake River Canyon.  Two long days hunting, and he was the only dog with us….  We got about 40 birds for the weekend, ~30 Tango found and retrieved, probably 15 would not have been found without him…  He has gotten better every year. 🙂  (He doesn’t understand why we fish when there are more birds to get.)  Here is a picture of the boys with Tango and some of the birds…  He is a little camera shy. 🙂  (Really he doesn’t want to stand near the birds that are put on the ground, he isn’t allowed to pick them up a second time.)  I do follow your website from time to time, and always love to hear your advice and comments.  Sorry for not keeping in touch more often.

Thanks again for all you do.

Best regards,

Andy & Tango

Can’t believe our Furbaby is 3 years old! She’s crazy, keeps us on our toes, is becoming a good big sister and… she thinks she can climb trees 😜

Breeder’s Note

Your windows are (absolutely) cleaner than ours, but then who is comparing? Happy Birthday, Emma Blue. We are thrilled to see your parents have things arranged perfectly for you. The sofa in front of the window lets you keep your watch on that side of the house. The baby swing near the French door allows you to keep an eye on the baby while you watch the birds. You look happy, healthy, and much loved.

It’s a Jungle Out There

Oscar loves the tall grass in spring

I am glad Grandma Deli is nearing 14.5!!!!  Amazing.  One thing for sure is Oscar is healthy like an ox.  He clearly comes from good lines.
He’s not as good as Baron was on the trails though.  He runs real heavy and his paws get chewed up after 20km or so.  He still wants to keep going, but I usually limit him a bit.  He can go much further if it is on softer ground but here in “the Rockies”…..well you get the picture😊

The view is good...

Furbaby expecting sister

More Fun Ahead

We found out in September that Emma Blue was going to be a big sister, and last night we found out she is going to have a little sister 🙂 We have absolutely no doubt that she is going to be a wonderful big sister. Last night when we found out, she had two three year old boys hanging all over her and making tons of boy noise and it didn’t even phase her. She has always loved to lick all the babies she meets and she seems to know that toddlers are easily knocked over so she slows down (a tad) around them 🙂 She continues to be included in all that we do and we don’t plan on changing that. We couldn’t be more thankful for the joy she has brought to our lives. She will forever and always be our furbaby.

We hope you are getting to enjoy this holiday season despite what you are having to face currently.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Merry Christmas! ~ Tanya, Aaron & Emma Blue (Big sis!!)

Comments: This is blessed news. We are having a new baby too–not Cliff and I, but we are going to have another great grand baby. I think she is due in either June or July. They will be nearly the same age. Thank you for the thoughts, and the update. We always love them. Thank you for all you have done for Emma.

Living the Good Life in Calgary

Oscar 4 Bog-7My dad wanted you to see I have a very nice, (a good-sized) tongue. Another thing he likes about me (besides spending our time together) is my beautiful coat. No, I am not wearing a fashion parka, but my fur is extraordinary. Oscar 4 Bog-8Important Weimar Job

I have a lot of responsibility here in Calgary. My mom is a doctor, and she does a lot of things to help people. She is a bit of a fashion mogul herself; you might say that we hangout together. I think we cause quite a stir when we do. Below are some important snapshots from my world. I hope you enjoy them.~ Oscar

Tango

Where does the time go?Olson's Tango

Summer is over, and it really feels like fall most mornings here on the Palouse….  Last week got some much needed rain, it has been one of the driest summers/fall that I can remember.  Just wanted to give you a quick update on Tango.  I know that it has been much too long, and I really don’t have any good excuse.  I have, from time to time, read the website to keep up with you.  Tango is doing just great, he still has a bunch of energy, but has calmed from the puppy stuff.  We have survived most of the “bad stuff”…. jumping, mouthing, digging, running, barking, eating the house, chasing – cars, cats, coyotes, deer, elk, moose, airplanes……  And after all of that he is the best dog we could have hoped for and has exceeded all of my expectations.  He is so loyal, friendly and protective of his family, which now includes a pair of new kittens….

One-For-One-For-One….

One Rooster, One Weimaraner, and One Great RetrieveOlson's Tango-2Tango I  went hunting Saturday morning and had some luck, not a bunch of birds, and the conditions were really poor.   We were one-for-one-for-one….  We got one rooster up, I took one shot, and Tango retrieved one bird. 🙂  It was a great morning.  This the picture from the morning’s hunt.

I will try to keep you updated more often, Thank you for the wonderful dog. ~Andy

Oliver

Homecoming

I wanted to send a couple pics of Oliver since his homecoming.  Although he does not live with me, he comes to visit Winston and me quite a lot so I take lots of photos!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Winston does not particularly like the idea of a new dog sharing his pets and affection, which we try and mitigate with our “equal love” rule where anytime someone asks to pet Oliver, they have to pet Winston too.  I think he will come around in time.

He is a Treasure

The first picture is the day he came home.  Everything seems to be going well.  He had a bout of puppy warts, just like Winston did, but they are already almost gone!  He had his first trip to the dog park which went very well – a little timid around new friends, but having Winston or us to run and hide behind is a comfort to him and he is getting more and more confident.  He has been such a treasure.
