Hello From OwyheeStar

Sunrise October 21 2017

As you might guess, Halloween Decorations are scattered here and there–for some, these decorations are more essential than Christmas. (Not for us.) We doubt we will receive any Trick or Treat visitors. Our grandkids are otherwise busy–the ones the right age (the Great Grandkids). Ashley said they might stop by on Monday once they are back. We have something for them.

October 2020 is nearly in the books, and tomorrow we open November–the election and all the hoopla surrounding it looms large on the horizon. Of course, some places have already found the need to scoop snow and scrape windshields. We are happy to wait for the pleasure. Then too–Day Light Savings begins tomorrow, as well. (Fall Back)

AT OWYHEESTAR

Flynn is a Lover Boy–he doesn’t like pictures

We have one Longhair left to promise–he had a family waiting, but they let us know they have a situation and cannot move ahead. We are calling him Flynn.

Too bad it was at the eleventh hour. He is quite lovely, so I am sure he won’t stick around all that long. We are accepting applications for this very lovely sweet Gray Longhair Boy.

This Week On the Blog…

Thanks to our faithful OwyheeStar contributors (especially those who sent something recently)–you make this possible. We sincerely hope our readers enjoyed these updates as much as we did, too.

It is a considerable challenge to get new (fresh) information for this blog. I even contemplated giving up–because most everyone posts their OwyheeStar Weim’s story directly. So many people write saying how important these stories are to them–often beginning their day with the new OwyheeStar News Blog. We appreciate your faithfulness. If you can help, send me a note. It would be much appreciated.

If you have a story that you will let me share–I need at least three sentences and a decent photo. I prefer to receive it via email. (FYI–we only use stories that feature the OwyheeStar Weimaraner).

On a very personal note

Our kids have been checking on us a bit more than usual. Possibly they are worried because other family members have taken ill. We are happy to report we are doing pretty darned well. (Haha) Cliff met with his new Oncologist/Hematologist, and he was very encouraging. He said we could stay on a course of monitoring and managing the minor symptoms for years–we certainly hope.

Ambrosia is still working on apples. We will load her again with apples before we leave this morning– another load of apples is prepped in the freezer. As you see–it takes quite a while–the more moisture, the longer you can expect a cycle to take–and when it comes to storing, you want to be sure you get things completely dry.

There is not much else to report unless you have not heard that my half-sister Colleen got her DNA results that confirmed our relationship. So, I know my biological father was Stanley Lily. My pre-adoption birth record listed me as Baby Girl Carlin. My birth mother was Viola Jean Burkhart. There is a strong possibility that we located another unknown half-brother on Friday–stay tuned. (Haha) I have gone from a very isolated and quiet only child upbringing to finding out I have eight known half-siblings. Well, I am processing it–and at the same time delighted and amazed. It doesn’t change anything–yet, nothing will ever be the same again.

Cliff’s only sister lives here in town–not too far from us. He dropped over with a packet of freeze-dried apples. Jill texted later how much she appreciated them. She and her husband (Chuck) said they miss eating apples, but they have not been able to eat them with their dentures. We have another packet made for her—what fun.
