Wallowa Lake
~ Cold Water, Deer, etc.
Mesquite fetching sticks in Wallowa Lake.

She kind of surprised me, she went right in the water and retrieved the sticks. The water was cold.
She ran into to her first Deer. She was on leash. They stood and looked at each other at about 20 yards. She didn’t try and get after the Deer. Which I was thankful . She isn’t hard to manage in that type of situation. She is smart, and was just interested.

We are happy that you and Mesquite have so many fun adventures. It is always fun to read about them–thanks for everything! Lyle–it might be a good idea to keep her on the Duralactin –to help prevent inflammation. With age–and colder weather the Weimaraner (like all dogs and people) is more prone to arthritic issues.

Shela: I keep her on the Duralactin all the time. Don’t want to take any chances, with her coming down with something I can prevent.
I have put her on Diamond’s Senior dry dog food. She eats it very well. She has always had a good appetite, not like my former Vizsla!
She had a good time at the lake.

Maizie had the same experience with a deer at Wallowa Lake a few years ago! Maizie had a stare-down with the deer, then began barking loudly. The deer wasn’t phased. It was a very large deer too, right behind our trailer in our campground!
Maizie also had a deer encounter at Wallowa Lake! It was a very large deer in our campground who was not phased by Maizie’s barking! Lucky for all of us the deer just sauntered away!
