Time Has Flown

Greetings!

Kletzli's Colby received_2080699298647685
Colby is 8 years old, now. I was not home to celebrate it this year. But my family took the time to make sure he got some extra lovings. My oldest daughter sang him happy birthday and asked Grandma to make him a cake (she didn’t have any ingredients for a pupcake, or I think she would have actually done it). Daddy got him the biggest rawhide he has ever seen along with a new ball. And we did a video chat. He mostly ignores the phone when I call home, but sometimes when I talk to him, I’ll get a reaction. This time, he wagged his little stump and nervously placed when I told him in my high squeaky voice “Its mine!” as he pranced around with his beloved prize.
My, how the time has flown! It seems like yesterday, we brought Colby into our home. The years have not been without their challenges. We had the case of him getting his ear caught in the fence. There were the two ACL tears accompanied with TPLO surgeries… the heartbreak of the passing of our other dog, Sable last summer.  Lets also not forget the tunnels he created to the neighboring yards so he and my children could go say hello to the other dogs.  There were also the many, many pizzas that seem to have vanished into thin air. The only evidence of their existence a few crumbs and perhaps a little cheese dangling off his nose.
Those challenges are nothing compared to the love and fun we have shared with our beloved weim. He is always there to help clean up the table scraps. To give kisses when someone gets hurt. To take over the bed when it’s time to sleep. To offer himself up for a snuggle and a pet when we are not feeling good. To play a game of keep away or roughhouse when we want to have fun. To announce our arrival of and greet us when we get home from a long day of work.  To miss us when we’re gone. And of course, the countless amounts of memories we have made, which I can not even begin to sum up in a simple letter.
Although the time has passed by fast, the fact that Colby has entered the later stages in his life are beginning to show.  I believe his fur is beginning to change color. He has some new “freckles” on his nose. The evidence of those missing pizzas has begun to appear on his waistline.  We do not know how many more years we will be given with him. But we will continue to cherish each and every moment that we are gifted.
We continue to enjoy the love and support we get from you, Cliff and the Owyheestar community. I love the new group!  Thank you for everything you do!

Breeder Comment

Dear Jennifer, we appreciate you taking the time to get us the update on Colby. Some of our readers might have read about Colby’s birthday or some of the other Facebook posts where you wrote about him. We appreciate you! Also, let us take this opportunity to thank you for your service. In case, you, dear reader, do not know–Jenn is deployed. She is serving her country while her children, her husband, and Colby are at home in Idaho.

Despite her busy (and often awkwardly challenging circumstances), she has kept us abreast of life and her long-distance interaction with Colby. Isn’t that just precious? Please stay safe.

We look forward to your arrival stateside sometime early next year–and we know this includes the plan to add a Longhair to your household. What fun it will be to work with you folks again.
