Eight Years

11046329_959080747486947_6500446833660721477_oYesterday marked our eighth anniversary for the OwyheeStar Weimaraner News Blog. It doesn’t seem possible. The first few months we had the idea not to have a schedule. We were going to post a few times a month. The idea was to have at least a weekly publication. We did that, and it shortly took off. It seems as if by the third month we were a daily affair. There have been very few misses despite having the (dreaded but) all too common life circumstances–major surgery, cancer treatment, etc.

The client relationship is vital for the blog content. Your updates (especially those containing photos) which include a myriad of topics are the substance of the blog. (Thank You!)

Likes and Comments

thWhen you like our article it helps us in ways I cannot begin to explain. Therefore, if you read it (and thank you again for doing so), please take a second to like. Your comments are welcome. Other people like to read them. You would be surprised how many emails we get in regarding a comment.

very-young-pups-from-owyheestar-archives-11I hope to expand and improve our blogging and the social media effort. Nevertheless, I must pace myself. One thing I think would be fun is to have an occasional survey. Maybe I could begin with the survey of the month. One thing holding me back is the lack of engagement. We don’t get too many ‘likes’ or ‘comments.’ A survey with only a handful of participants would not be as valuable as one with say a hundred opinions. I would want this to be simple–vote for your favorite or tell us your preference. Let me know in the comments if you would participate. (Thank you, in advance!)

The Focus

Jan and Willow9562_oOur focus will remain the same. We are all about the OwyheeStar connection and celebrating our lineages. We are not attempting to reach the world as a whole; however, we do have followers worldwide. This is about the OwyheeStar community.

11891270_10207599167758656_1427309952331633864_nIf you find this breed frustrating or you are looking for the perfect dog, these accounts should help you discover the need to move on to a different breed. The Weimaraner is not for everyone. This blog is directed at those affected (and infected) with the breed–and yet, it is for the OwyheeStar segment. We cannot thank you enough for being a part of the family.

We alluded to the fact that we have followers worldwide. We get requests for help from a diverse cross section. It is impossible to an7-zula-blue-x-blue-2016-week-5-11swer or to help every person that contacts us in desperation. We fling a cursory answer as it is possible, but we are limited. Nonetheless, there are a lot of answers to be found on the OwyheeStar Weimaraner’s News Blog. You can search or check out the pages at the top.

  1. Shela, I’m hoping it goes without saying that many of us read your daily blog as a part of our normal life. Each day I see it show up in my in-box I’m excited to see what you or some other Weim-Addict has to say about their awesome puppies. Please not a mental “like” from at least this 1 person EVERY day! Thanks for all that you do, you’ve built a community for us like minded Weim lovers! THANKS! Will Spight

  2. We appreciate your loyal following. It means the world to us!

  3. We start the day with your always-interesting, entertaining, and humorous daily blog, Shela – it’s so informational, and also personal, reflecting your and Cliff’s vast experience, sense of humor, and caring. Thank you – and we look forward to (at least!) eight more years of “journaling”. Thanks too, to all those who send those great photos. I’ll try to do better!

  4. I begin each day after opening my eyes, reading the Owyheestar Blog while drinking my daily tea and coffee. That is how life has been for 5 years–since Maizie came to live with us. I look forward to it each day. I chuckle at how some new Weim owners have a lot to learn! I love the puppy pictures. They don’t stay that size for very long. I love the antics of the older Weim too–who know better, but are still testing their boundaries! I love the advice, tips, education and sharing of your knowledge of our beloved breed. I love that we now have a Weim-connection–having gotten to meet many Weims and their owners in Western Oregon at regularly scheduled play days. I love knowing who Maizie is related to and we owners have connected on Facebook. I especially love when Maizie is the featured story on the Blog! She is our star each and every day! We love her.❤️

  5. Thank you, for the kind words. I am awestruck and honored that you faithfully follow, like, and comment. We love featuring Maizie. I think she is due! Hugs to you and your Rockstar Weimar Gal.

  6. LOVE the blogs, but to like you have to sign in to WordPress, to leave a reply I’m going to try the Facebook login, which appears to work.

  7. We love the blog!! You have a gift to share, encourage, teach and make us laugh!! We love following the related pups and hear about the similarities. Skye & Haze are the dynamic duo for sure!!! We love them and they also share, encourage, teach and make us laugh daily, must run in the infection that spreads between humans and dogs alike with this breed. We for sure would participate.

  8. Well, good. People are telling me varied things. The comments do close automatically–because I would get very old blogs with comments. So, that is a setting. Thank you, Amy, for trying Facebook. The Internet can be weird and everyone has a bit different situation.

  9. Thank you to the dynamic duo’s humans. Ha ha –you and your comments are greatly appreciated.
