OwyheeStar Week Forty-Six 2016
Greetings From Far Eastern Oregon
Social unrest has been forefront in our news. Lives lost, people are being locked up for over-the-top demonstrations. We are sad that our freedom (won with valor and the spilling of blood) is being spent in this manner. Our prayer is that people can put this behind us and come together. It is troubling that the same people who fling muck and accuse others of being negative are the primary participants in this activity. Honestly, we grew up in a time when more was expected. Respect for others as well as behaving in a reasonable manner. That being said–we saw our share of riots and flag burning incidents. We saw people flee to Canada. We lived through Kent State and the Vietnam situation. There were other times of unrest. Sometimes the activity had to be put down with physical force. In America, we would rather not have to resort to police arrests and whatnot. Sometimes it cannot be avoided. I hope this sad time will pass and we can come together. Call me silly, but I believe in our political process. I see a God that is bigger than what is happening. Nevertheless, it takes one person at a time to effect change. Ultimately, we hope you can love your neighbor even if you differ on every important issue.
This Week on the Blog
Here are the week’s posts if you wish you may review or visit them today! We want to thank you folks that came through for us again. We have a few more updates waiting for us to post; however, it is important to have enough to keep going. We are ever so thankful for these fascinating bits of news. Hearing from Oakley and Willy’s parents sixteen years after their departure was both heartwarming and sobering. It is important to celebrate each day we are given.
Sunday— November 6 — I Don’t Think So
Monday — November 7 — Hank
Tuesday — November 8 — Free to Dig
Wednesday — November 9 — Reaching Out
Thursday — November 10 — Oakley and Willy <– Get out the kleenex
Friday — November 11 — Henry
On a very personal note
Cliff is still working on the water line issues. Our little red tractor is coughing and sputtering –giving him fits. (ha ha) I am trying to make something more workable with our unfinished kitchen. I came up with a couple of short-term solutions. Like anyone, I would like it all finished. I hope one day I can celebrate the completion of the kitchen. Nonetheless, we are very happy in our little farmhouse.
The puppy fencing had some temporary adjustments. The kids moved to a better area which has a nicer lawn. Of course, they are hard on grass. (OMG) We are trying to stay focused on the positive and have empathy toward others. There is a limit to our ability to understand those destroying our country. We sincerely hope this ends soon. Today we will watch the Boise State game and hope for a win. If they are defeated, we do not plan to riot and to blame the officials. Sometimes things are unfair. Life can be like that. Love to you all!
Thanks to You
There is no way we could ever thank you enough for your love and support. We are immensely grateful for those who continually provide us with the material for the blog. Unfortunately, sometimes this is only photos and no script. We can fill in a bit when necessary; however, we like to keep the integrity of your writing real. A couple of sentences can go a long way–sometimes it is enough. Those that have sent us updates know we are more than likely to post it word-for-word.
There is no end in sight of our farmhouse remodel. We are doing it ourselves, and it is the installment plan–we are not borrowing to do this. We buy something and install it. Therefore, having the updates is greatly appreciated than usual–it is always a blessing!
