George

My Newest Hunting Partner

          ~ Developing Field Skills

Hi guys, I just wanted to check in and give an update on George from Stackhouse and Mesquite. He’s doing great, he’s a sweet well-behaved dog. He’s growing fast. This past few days I took him out on his first hunts, for sooty and dusky grouse. Day one he followed the older dog studiously and by the day he located my last downed bird (didn’t retrieve it yet, just found t and growled at it, but a good start).  By the second day, he was pointing tweety birds and to my amazement located this enormous dusky in his own in a beautiful, low, Weimaraner point. He held steady until the beagle came in and flushed it, and the beagle took it out of the air and I didn’t even need to shoot. Needless to say, I’m proud of my dogs. ~ Richard

George’s Early Beginning

We make no apology for the reference to hunting. The Weimaraner is a Versatile Hunting Dog–used to assist with the upland game, waterfowl, and small game. To some, this is unthinkable. Nevertheless, we best not forget that this is first and foremost a hunting dog. Secondly, these folks are not hunting for the joy of the kill–our hunters eat their take. Responsible hunters and fishermen are those that consider the environment. This harvesting in moderation is a long tradition that benefits all –many folks away from this lifestyle do not understand it. That being said, we live in America and freedom has come at a high cost. Live and let live is our way. Your pet city Weimaraner may retrieve a small critter one day. They will believe they have brought you a great treasure.
