OwyheeStar Week Six 2016
Greetings From Far Eastern Oregon
We missed an opportunity this week. Without a shadow of a doubt; this is true! We should have looked for the Weimar shadow. Who do you trust? Punxsutawney Phil or Deja Vu?
Deja thinks she is up for the task. We guess we missed the boat so to speak. Nevertheless, we at OwyheeStar, are celebrating the news. Phil didn’t see his shadow; therefore, the prediction is for an early spring. That is always good news when Cabin Fever is threatening to overtake us. It (Cabin Fever) and the Winter Blues are collaborating on a plan. We have dropped our subscription to both journals; however, we still receive the propaganda. (Bummer!)
It would serve us well to remember that not everyone dislikes winter. There are many reasons it is the season of choice for some. There is the opportunity to snowboard, snowmobile, ski and engage in Winter fun of every sort. Farmers often use this change of pace season for escape. That doesn’t mean the farmer doesn’t have anything to do come, Winter. Nevertheless, the business of Spring, Summer, and Fall labor loom large. Winter work pales in comparison. Winter brings fun and is a distraction of a special sort. More importantly, the arrival of an adequate mountain snowpack is vital on every level. Not only is it beloved for the recreational value; the reservoirs are crying for water.
Full Definition of déjà vu (Merriam-Webster.Com)
1a: the illusion of remembering scenes and events when experienced for the first time
1b: a feeling that one has seen or heard something before
Deja is the Great Granddaughter or our Deli (seen here paws-up on the lawn). Grandma is the stunning Callie; her Mama is the adorable (recently retired) Ginger. Nonetheless, despite the mix of DNA (which includes OwyheeStar’s litter sires Zeke, Zee, and Blue)–she is Great Grandma Deli all over again. We adore her and sincerely hope she will prove to produce awesome puppies when the time is right. Deja Vu–it makes us smile no matter what happens.
This Week on the Blog
On a very personal note
We find ourselves moving slowly toward the finish line. It (the finish line) keeps running ahead of us and pushing our goals to the future. We keep our sanity by realizing we are doing all that is possible. It is important to remember to laugh at the absurdity of any situation–also to not forget to chuckle at your antics as well. Laughter is medicinal and the only exercise our liver gets.
The hallway storage is in the works. Cliff has his challenges because the house (like us) is old and not perfect. There are three closets we can use for whatever we need–like a pantry in part. Across from the storage, there is a coat closet and the entrance to our whelping area. As always, it is connected to the master suite.
Things might take a huge jump forward this weekend if they go as planned. As I always say–expectation is fertile ground for disappointment. I am hoping it goes better than anything imagined; however, I am at peace if nothing works as we have talked.
Healthwise–I am happy to be fighting a much smaller giant. In fact, I am thrilled. Cliff and I are doing well-considering everything. That is something to celebrate. Some days (and weeks) are better than others.
(Note–thank you to all of you who continue to send us updates. There is a lot to be learned from other Weimlovers; it puts a smile on our faces too!)
There is no way we could ever thank you enough for your love and support. We are especially grateful for those who continually provide us with the material for the blog. Unfortunately, sometimes this is only photos and no script. There is no end in sight of our farmhouse remodel. We are doing it ourselves, and it is the installment plan–we are not borrowing to do this. We buy something and install it. Therefore, having the updates is greatly appreciated than usual–it is always a blessing!
